John D. Williams
John Williams is a Senior Training Deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Deputy Williams has worked as a law enforcement officer for over 22 years. His assignments have included tours with the Department's Gang Unit and various Patrol Assignments. For the last 14 years, he has worked as a training instructor with there Leadership and Training Division. His primary duties include teaching training classes on Officer Safety, Off-Duty Survival, Jail Gangs, Jail Crime Investigation as well as numerous other law enforcement topics. He is also responsible for the development of there Department's online computer based training program which is primarily made up of video and power point presentations. To date he has produced over 200 training presentations and 600 training videos for his Department and outside agencies on a very diverse range of topics. He has two Bachelor of Science Degrees from UCLA in the fields of Geography and Criminal Justice. He also has a reserve commission as a full Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.
As a Gang Investigator and Trainer, Deputy Williams has interviewed hundreds of gang members and investigated there covert communication techniques. Over the years, he has built up an expertise in covert communications and actively maintains contacts with state and federal prison authorities to share intelligence and keep up with the latest covert communication techniques. aTo date, Deputy Williams has lectured coast to coast to over two dozen law enforcement agencies and various nationwide Gang Investigator Associations on the topic of Gangs and there Covert Communication Methods and tattoos.
